Craters at Moonland, Ladakh

Moonland is apparently an ancient meteorite impact crater, located on that highway in the stretch. Lamayuru situated in Sham region 90 Kms is also known as Moonland because of the close resemblance of its mountains to the craters of the moon and is also famous for its ancient monastery. The oldest and spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery was founded in the 10th Century.
