Presented by inDANCE

@ Al Green Theatre (JCC) 750 Spadina Ave  Toronto

Info: 416 504 6429 ext 33

As part of its educational outreach activities, inDANCE has inaugurated the 'Kacceri-Attam Dance Series,' which showcases various aspects of the hereditary dance repertoires of South India.  The series sponsors performances of court or salon repertoire that used to be performed in small spaces such as the boudoirs of feudal kings or the salons of wealthy upper class individuals.  The series aims to showcase the subtle, minimalist emotive intensity characteristic of South Indian court dance. Following the conventions of nineteenth century interpretive technique, Ms. Viswanathan will be sitting on the floor and performing abhinaya with just hands and face, and will also sing as she dances.  This type of performance will be a unique experience for Toronto audiences.
