MP Malhi Tours England to Strengthen Sikh Ties

In
a major community agenda to bring Sikh communities on board for a
possible business partnership and increasing cultural ties,
Bramalea-Gore-Malton-Springdale MP Gurbax Singh Malhi of Canada
paid a visit to England recently.

Malhi
received a warm welcome from the local business Community in
London on Aug 19. The visiting MP was received by Jaswant Singh
Grewal owner of the famous Domino Pizza Chain. Other members of
the Community Darshan Brar, Pritam Singh Brar, Satpal Singh,
Harjinder Singh Sandhu, Jagjit Singh Dhillon, Jagjit Singh Sandhu
also accorded him a hearty welcome.
As
a community ambassador, Malhi met religious leaders, businessmen
and local residents at Shri Guru Gobind Singh College. Malhi met
other members of the Community included among them were S. Kesar
Singh, Principal Gurdeep Singh Hundal and many kabaddi players.
Speaking
on the anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh later in the evening
in the College Malhi highlighted the deeds and contributions of
Maharaja Ranjit Singh towards Sikhism and the Sikh Community.
Malhi also made everybody aware of the contribution of Sikhs in
Canada and in particular their parliamentary contributions. Malhi
was honoured by the management committee of the College.
Malhi
also presented his views to the community members at the Oldest
Gurughar Sheppard Buseh.On being honoured by the President of the
committee S. Jaimel Singh Gill, Malhi highlighted the blessing of
Gurus and expressed the views that it is due to Guru's blessings
that he got chance to be here today with the Guru’s Sangat.
Malhi heard with keen interest the history of Windsor Fort and
England.
Sri
Guru Singh Sabha South Hall Sports Club organised a function in
Oberoi Banquet Hall in honour of Malhi, apart from sportsmen from
different fields, City Councillor, D.S. Cheema, Grewal and
ex-Mayor Varinder ji participated.
Malhi
was praised for his contributions to help local sports. N.R.I.
Sabha also honoured Malhi in the city of Cralleon. On this
occasion secretary of the Club Jassi Singh Khangura praised Malhi
for being the first Sikh MP in the history of North Amercia. In
his address Malhi apprised them of his various agendas.
The
owner of Punjab Radio Dr. Gurdeep Singh honoured Malhi at his
residence in presence of a big gathering. Malhi shared his views
with Punjabi Scholar S. Kesar Singh Mand and congratulated him for
his contribution to Punjabi literature.
Malhi
was honoured by the owner of Boston Manor Hotel Sohan Singh
Saund the gathering included sports persons, City Councillors and
M.P. of England Piara Singh Khabra. Malhi thanked everybody.
