WINDOW ON CANADA - EVENT REPORT

 

2001 Dance Competition

 

Lumbini Arts Society, Ottawa, organised a three day event “Conferecne on Performing Arts, State and Society, November 23-25, 2001, held at Carleton University, Ottawa.

 

The Second Lumbini dance was part of this three day event and was convened by Subramaniams - Professor V.  and  Jaya Subramaniam.

 

The Judges were, Padmabhushan Kamala (New York), Fred Traguth (Bonn, Germany), Mekhala Devi Natavar (Duke Univ., North Carolina), Professor T.S.Rukmani (Concordia, Montreal), Lakshmi Ranganathan (Queens Univ., Kingston, Ontario) and Richard Tremblay, (Montreal).

 

Pooja Kumar (Cleveland)

Seetha Radhakrishnan (Montreal)

Madhavi Cheruvu (San Francisco)

Scheherazaad Cooper (Vancouver)

Gayatri Kumar (Toronto)

were  adjudged    winners  &  awarded  a  cash prize  for  outstanding  performance.  The prize also included an invitation to perform in Bonn, Germany in the summer of 2003.
