Ansar Al-Islam announces to target people who commit eight specific kinds of offenses against their ideology: According to SITE Intelligence Group, Ansar Al-Islam, Bangladesh Branch of Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), in a statement signed by one Mufti Abdullah Ashraf, claiming to be the 'spokesperson' for Ansar Al-Islam on April 8 said that they will be targeting people who commit eight specific kinds of offenses against their ideology. The details of the 'offenses' have also been provided. Dhaka Tribune, April 29, 2016.

He said, "After each and every murder, IS made claims. But we did not find its existence in our country. She said "We perform our religious rituals. But why should we tolerate anyone writing filthy words against our religion? I don't consider such writings as freethinking but filthy words. IS claims it has operations inside Bangladesh: Islamic State (IS), in its latest issue of propaganda magazine Dabiq released online on April 13, has claimed it has operations inside Bangladesh. A significant part of the issue of the magazine was devoted to discuss its operations in Bangladesh. The latest issue includes a profile of a young Bangladeshi named Abu Jandal al-Bangali who was killed during a battle in Ayn Issa, northern Syria. Abu Jandal, it says, was a man who came from an affluent family in the capital city of Dhaka and had military connections. Dhaka Tribune, April 15, 2016.

US now accepts JeI as a terrorist organization, says State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam following a meeting with a delegation of United States (US) diplomats on March 31 said that US now accepts Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) as a terrorist organization. The Minister told, "The US now understands that Jamaat-e-Islami is a terrorist organization, even though they were slow on the uptake." Dhaka Tribune, April 2, 2016.

There is no room for terrorism and militancy in Islam, says BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia while addressing a programme of Islami Oikya Jote in Dhaka city on March 31 said that there is no room for terrorism and militancy in Islam. Mentioning that Islam is a religion of peace, she said: "There is no place for militancy and terrorism in Islam. However, a vested quarter is running militant activities in the country in the name of our religion. Please stay alert and keep the common people away from such activities."
